Man....That strategy to stay at the front really did not pay off for me either. It was a day for those that have practiced HTFU. I was redlined from the whistle and by the time I got to the base of the climb, my legs screamed uncle. I went back to the car, got my skirt and pom-poms, and cheered from the start/finish line.
It was a great day for the Masters 35+ cat 4 squad! John "nuclear motor" Steggall got 6th after Fred and Chris tenderized the field on the second lap. Lee executed his plan to precision and finished strong with only a few cramps to spoil the party. Derek and Justin hung tough to finish the race with smiles/grimaces on their faces. Robin.....I loaned him a pair of pom-poms after the second lap!
What a day!!!!
