Steve Nowicki, Merco 35+ 4

I was not a great day for the DBC Masters Team. There was no wind and we decided to just watch attacks and try to organize on the second half of the last lap, but it never materialized. We had some fantastic performances from each of our riders that showed that our fitness is increasing. The field was large and very nervous which made for a sketchy last lap. Robin Rolles crashed on the first lap on a very rough section of the course. He was valiant and finished the race strong and safe with some nice road rash Jason, Stan and I were involved in a dramatic crash after Stan's front tire was taken out by a rider who overreacted after touching Fred's rear tire. Stan hit the tarmac hard with his head and back but did not suffer any serious injuries. I was next to go down with some minor road rash. Jason took the brunt of the accident with a re-fracture of his right clavicle. He was otherwise unhurt and his bike suffered only a bent dérailleur hanger.

Fred continued to a top 25 finish. Lee, Lorne, Justin, and Derek finished with the main pack. We all had a nice lunch and shared a couple of brews.

More to come.

Ciao,
Steve
